Wild Art Painting Classes

Get artsy at the Oglebay Good Zoo! Classes are available for adults, teens, children, families, and couples & teams. We’ll provide you with art supplies and step-by-step painting instructions. Guests will also be visited by a surprise animal during class! Interested in a private Wild Art program? Wild Art programs are great for a girls night out, birthday parties, scouts troops, team building, or any other group activity. Winter/Spring Preschool Programs

Join the Educators at the Oglebay Good Zoo for fun-filled Preschool Programs, a great way for parents or grandparents to interact with their children and explore nature and wildlife. The programs, for children ages 2 – 4, are designed using the Content Standards and Learning Criteria for West Virginia Pre-Kindergarten. Programs are held on select Wednesdays and Saturdays. They one hour in length and include crafts, songs, and live animals.

Spring Home School Zoo Engineering Program

Home school students, middle school through high school age, will explore the Oglebay Good Zoo while participating in behind-the-scenes tours, STEM activities, and career exploration.

2018 Zoo Summer Camps

Through hands-on activities, experiments, and live animals, participants will learn about wildlife, nature, science, and the
outdoors! Various camp programs taught buy our trained and experienced Education Staff are available for ages 3 and up. Our education staff is trained in CPR and First Aid. Lifeguards are on duty for all swimming activities.

Birthday Parties

Celebrate your birthday at the Oglebay Good Zoo and leave the fuss to us! Enjoy our party room with cupcakes and party snacks, an animal presentation, guided tour of the zoo, and more. Birthday Parties are conducted by our trained Education Staff, experienced in providing programming for all ages.

Workshops and Sleepovers

Oglebay Good Zoo Workshops are afternoon programs, specially designed programs for Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, Campfire Clubs, church groups, and other organizations looking for a fun-filled zoo adventure. Choose from several exciting program options. Our trained Education Staff, experienced in providing programming for all ages, will conduct your Workshop with a guided tour of the zoo and live animal presentation. Make a night out of it and join us for a Sleepover!

Looking for a hands-on adventure for your students? The Oglebay Good Zoo is for you! The zoo provides unique opportunities for student involvement, whether it’s panning for fossils at the gem sluice, touching a llama, or feeding a lorikeet.

Teen Volunteer Program

After successfully completing our Volunteer Training Program, teens become volunteers and assist Zoo Keepers and Educators with the daily responsibilities of operating the zoo. Our volunteers will share their wildlife knowledge with visitors at the Oglebay Good Zoo, while using live animals and artifacts. In addition to the everyday duties, volunteers also aid in conducting summer camps, birthday parties, sleepovers, and other education programs. Adult Education Master Naturalist Program

Nature lovers, 16 years of age and older will become certified Master Naturalists in this cooperative program developed by the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources. Core classes, taught by experienced educators, biologists, and experts,  include lessons about mammals, birds, wildflowers, trees, nature interpretation, and much more.
